In 1927 the Indian Olympics Association was formed. It is responsible for selecting athlete to represent the country at Olympics games, Asian games and The Commonwealth games also.

- India was participated in 16 time in The Winter Olympics since 1964. But they has not achieved any medals till now.
- From 04/12/2012 to 11/02/2014 this 14 month India was banned from Olympics game by The International Olympics Committee.
- India first time participated as individuals in Olympics in 1900 at Paris.

Controversy of Vinesh Phogat in Olympics 2024: Vinesh Phogat is an Indian female wrestler. She was disqualified from the final match in Paris Olympics 2024 due to her over weight issue in 50 kg category. In the final round of 50kg freestyle wrestling category she was found overweight almost 100 to 125 grams. That is why The International Olympics Committee(IOC) was not allow to participate the final round and they denied to give her the Silver medals also. Vinesh Phogat has declared her retirement from wresting in Paris Olympics 2024.
